Janeen Arnold, founder and principal designer of BYJA[ by Janeen Arnold ], brings a unique blend of global influence and coastal refinement to her work. Born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey, she then traveled the world in search of historic and architectural inspirations. Janeen was fortunate enough to have lived on the beautiful shores of Hawaii and spend over two decades in Maine, where she founded Salt of Maine Design Co., a published boutique studio known for its award winning timeless, elevated aesthetic.

Grounded by her studies with the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), Janeen’s design approach is deeply informed by her understanding of biophilic design and neuroaesthetics—disciplines that explore how natural elements and the built environment shape human health, emotion, and performance. By incorporating these principles, she creates interiors that not only look beautiful but also enhance wellbeing, inspire creativity, and nurture connection.
